The Visual Identity created by CLD for Violence Against Women (VAW) Legal Information Resource is bold and empowering. It hints at the idea of layers and of the hidden; it suggests guidance in navigating the nuances of the legal and support network system, and gives voice to that which might unjustly remain unspoken.
Violence Against Women (VAW) Legal Information Resource is an online initiative designed to increase access to justice for First Nation, Métis and Inuit women facing violence by providing VAW service provider staff with a better understanding of key concepts in relevant areas of law.
As a support tool and resource for VAW service staff, ease of access to information within the website is paramount. The home page introduces a colour palette and set of patterns that can be rolled out in subsequent pieces; most pages, however, employ only a play of colours and typography, allowing visitors to easily and quickly find the information they need when bandwidth and screen size is at a premium.
CLD created a visual language upon which further materials can be built while maintaining clarity and navigability in this information-heavy, resource-driven site. The colour palette and approachable layout give a visual lift to a serious subject without distracting or detracting from the message; the focus remains on the contents.
